In recent times the demand by our customers for true one off paint schemes has increased. The Cubano you see above is one of those bikes where they came to us with a clear idea of the overall design concept but without knowing how to implement it on a bicycle frame. Converting a design from a car or motorcycle to a bicycle is challenging because of the limited surface area available and the non-flowing lines.
The design brief was simple, "I would like a Martini Racing inspired bicycle. " The Martini racing stripes have been synonymous with success in the motorsport ranks for over 50 years. The concept was great but the execution would be a challenging one. Challenging in the sense that we had to use the Martini design concept while maintaining the classic Baum Identity.....I mean the Baum minimalist look with simple clean lines
Being a complete build, we took advantage by integrating a lot of the components into the paint scheme. The Navy blue Chris King headset and Classic hubs tie in quite nicely. With a SRed BB30 groupset down to the handbuilt Mavic Open Pro Ceramic rims this bike has been designed to be ridden hard.
Our customer is over the moon with the final result. A truly one off bike that he will enjoy riding for many years to come.
There are more photos of this bike at our flickr.com photostream.
